From a young age, I have always enjoyed designing interiors, making renovation plans for homes I found online and creating patterns. Because of this, I decided, in 2012 to pursue this passion of mine and enroll in the Interior Design and Styling Academy in the Netherlands. In the following 4 years, I developed my interior design skills, pattern design, a close eye for detail and my ability to finish complicated projects in time. I graduated in 2016 and quickly started working at Scotch & Soda as a 'store designer'!
In 2019 I continued my retail journey at Unibail-Rodamco-Westfield (URW). Here I created over a hundred designs! Even though I love designing interiors, another interested of mine was growing, the one for product design. In 2021 I therefore decided to enroll myself in the TUDelft bachelor of Industrial Design Engineering. During my study I learned about social design and quickly realized that it was the field I wanted to work in. The combination of designing and creating a positive impact (cohesion, inclusion etc) on society, was what I was looking for. Next to social impact I also love to design for a positive environmental impact. This year (2024) I graduated and very much looking forward to working in the field of social/environmental design!
I design with the principle that form follows function, but for me, design is more than just balancing form and function. It should consider all aspects of the space you are designing for and its impact beyond the field it is intended for. This holistic approach is what makes working in design so amazing for me.
